Civil Engineering and Architecture (Project Lead the Way)

Civil Engineering and Architecture (CEA) is one of the specialization courses in the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) engineering program. In CEA, students are introduced to important aspects of building and site design and development. They apply math, science, and standard engineering practices to design both residential and commercial projects and document their work using 3D architectural design software. Utilizing the activity-, and project-based learning, students will learn skills in cost and efficiency analysis, services and utilities, commercial and residential building systems, site considerations, and use of current 3D architectural design and modeling software to represent and communicate solutions. The course will culminate with students developing a preliminary design for a small commercial facility, and delivering a formal presentation of this final team design project.
